NTPC Mining Invites Bids for 40 MW Ground-Mounted Solar Projects in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh – Indian PSU

NTPC Mining Limited (NML), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited Expressions of Interest (EoIs) for the development of 40 MW of ground-mounted solar power projects across its mining operations in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, marking another significant step in the company’s clean energy transition strategy.

The proposed projects will be implemented under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model, under which the selected developer will be responsible for financing, designing, engineering, procuring, constructing, operating and maintaining the solar power plants. NML will procure electricity generated from the projects under a long-term power supply arrangement, eliminating the need for significant upfront capital investment.

The initiative is aimed at integrating renewable energy into NTPC Mining’s operational infrastructure while reducing dependence on conventional power sources and supporting India’s decarbonisation objectives.

The EoI offers a substantial opportunity for EPC contractors, independent power producers and solar developers with expertise in utility-scale renewable energy projects. The mining locations in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh are expected to provide ready access to industrial demand centres, potentially easing grid connectivity and project execution.

Interested bidders have until September 1, 2026, to submit their Expressions of Interest. Following the evaluation process, NTPC Mining is expected to shortlist eligible participants before issuing a detailed Request for Proposal (RfP).

As public sector enterprises increasingly adopt renewable energy solutions for captive consumption, the RESCO model continues to gain traction by enabling infrastructure expansion without burdening balance sheets while ensuring long-term revenue visibility for developers.
