NTPC Officer’s Son Nabhya Bhardwaj Wins Global Honour at IAAC 2026, Emerges as India’s Sole International Awardee – Indian PSU

In what could be termed as a proud moment for the entire NTPC family, young science prodigy Nabhya Bhardwaj has brought laurels to India by securing the Third Prize (Junior) at the prestigious International Astronomy & Astrophysics Competition (IAAC) 2026, emerging as the only Indian student to receive an International Award among this year’s top global performers.

Competing against more than 9,100 students from around the world, Nabhya excelled in one of the world’s most demanding academic competitions for young astronomy enthusiasts. The IAAC is internationally recognized for assessing participants’ knowledge of astronomy, astrophysics, cosmology, and advanced analytical problem-solving through multiple rigorous stages.

Successfully clearing all three competitive rounds, Nabhya earned the coveted Gold Honour, an elite distinction reserved for the competition’s highest achievers. His exceptional performance placed him among an exclusive group of winners from countries including the United States, Italy, Romania, Indonesia, and Denmark.

A Class 10 student, Nabhya’s remarkable achievement has made his family, school, and the entire NTPC fraternity proud. He is the son of Shailendra Bhardwaj, Deputy General Manager (P&S) at NTPC Mouda.

Nabhya studies at Delhi Public School (DPS), Kamptee Road, where his outstanding academic accomplishments have already earned widespread recognition. His success at the IAAC highlights India’s growing presence in global scientific excellence and reflects the immense potential of young Indian minds in STEM education.

Adding another feather to his cap, Nabhya has also been selected as one of India’s youngest authors under the PM-YUVA 3.0 Mentorship Scheme, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, implemented by the National Book Trust (NBT). The prestigious programme nurtures young writers and promotes literary excellence among emerging authors across the country.
