JACKSONVILLE : Ocean Network Express’s (ONE) new West India North America (WIN) container service began calling Jacksonville with the arrival of the container ship ONE Modern. The service is the Jacksonville Port Authority’s (JAXPORT) first direct container service with the Indian subcontinent.
The WIN service calls the port’s Blount Island terminal weekly, providing four new port connections between Jacksonville, Florida, and India and Pakistan. SSA Atlantic provides stevedoring services at Blount Island.
The port rotation is Bin Qasim, Pakistan; Hazira, Nhava Sheva, and Mundra in India; New York; Savannah; Jacksonville; Charleston; Norfolk; and back to Bin Qasim.
“The WIN Service offers our valued customers a weekly routing from Nhava Sheva and Mundra to the U.S. East Coast,” said ONE Senior Vice President, Product & Network, Dan Sheehy. “This new service to JAXPORT demonstrates ONE’s commitment to this important and growing market, providing reliability and flexibility to our customers.”
“The WIN service enhances Jacksonville’s capabilities as an international seaport and expands our connections in the region, which is a key market for us,” JAXPORT CEO Eric Green said. “As we further diversify our trade lanes around the world, the service opens up new opportunities for manufacturers in Florida and throughout the Southeast U.S. to efficiently reach a market that is becoming increasingly important to global trade.”
The service is operated by a fleet of nine ONE vessels, each with a carrying capacity of 7,000 TEUs (containers). Main commodities include consumer and retail goods such as electronics, solar panels, perishable food items, textiles and apparel.
WIN is ONE’s second container service at JAXPORT. The shipping line also offers existing service between JAXPORT, Asia and Canada through the EC5 rotation operated by THE Alliance.
Located in the heart of the Southeast U.S., JAXPORT is Florida’s No. 1 container port by volume and one of the nation’s top vehicle-handling ports. Jacksonville offers fast and efficient vessel operations with a 47-foot deep-water shipping channel, two-way ship traffic, and same-day access to 98 million U.S. consumers.
