Online LPG cylinder bookings reached 99% across India, reflecting strong digital adoption amid ongoing global concerns linked to the Strait of Hormuz, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said.

The government has assured uninterrupted supply of LPG, petrol, and diesel, urging citizens to avoid panic buying and rely on official information.

PSU OMCs — Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited — have organised 7000+ awareness camps for 5 Kg Free Trade LPG cylinders, selling over 1 lakh units since April 3. Total sales of 5-kg cylinders have crossed 18.45 lakh since March 23.

Commercial LPG supply has improved to ~70% of pre-crisis levels, with average sales of 7000 MT/day in the last five days. Priority is being given to critical sectors like healthcare, education, and industry.

To curb malpractices, authorities conducted 1900+ raids, penalised 267 distributors, and suspended 67.

Meanwhile, PNG adoption is accelerating, with 4.93 lakh new connections since March, supported by companies like Indraprastha Gas Limited and Mahanagar Gas Limited.

The government maintains that no LPG shortages or dry-outs have been reported, with refineries operating at high capacity to ensure stable supply.
