Petronet LNG Limited (PLL), India’s leading LNG infrastructure company, has reported a strong financial performance for the first quarter of FY2026-27, registering a 33% year-on-year growth in both Profit Before Tax (PBT) and Profit After Tax (PAT), driven by improved commercial and operational efficiencies.
The company posted a standalone Profit Before Tax (PBT) of Rs 1,514 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, compared with Rs 1,136 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, reflecting a 33% increase. Standalone Profit After Tax (PAT) also rose by 33% to Rs 1,133 crore, up from Rs 851 crore in Q1 FY2025-26.
During the quarter, the Dahej LNG Terminal processed 192 TBTU of LNG, compared with 207 TBTU in the corresponding quarter last year and 201 TBTU in the preceding quarter. Overall LNG volume processed by the company stood at 207 TBTU, compared with 220 TBTU in Q1 FY2025-26 and 219 TBTU in the previous quarter.
The Dahej terminal recorded a capacity utilisation of 66% during the quarter, compared with 92% in the corresponding quarter and 90% in the previous quarter. At the company level, overall capacity utilisation stood at 58%, compared with 76% in both the corresponding and preceding quarters.
The decline in utilisation is primarily due to the commissioning of the Dahej Regasification Expansion Project, which increased the terminal’s nameplate capacity from 17.5 MMTPA to 22.5 MMTPA. Consequently, capacity utilisation for the current quarter has been calculated against the enhanced capacity base.
Compared with the immediately preceding quarter, standalone PBT declined from Rs 1,795 crore to Rs 1,514 crore, while PAT reduced from Rs 1,338 crore to Rs 1,133 crore. However, the company maintained that the year-on-year improvement reflects stronger commercial and operational efficiency.
Petronet LNG said the robust growth in profitability during the quarter was achieved despite lower LNG throughput, underscoring the company’s focus on operational excellence and efficient business management.
