Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday dedicated the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station to the nation as part of the inauguration of 75 modernised railway stations across India under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The inauguration ceremony in Dehradun was attended by Pushkar Singh Dhami and Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh, along with senior officials of Indian Railways, state government representatives and local citizens.

Redeveloped at a cost of approximately ₹19 crore, Harrawala Railway Station has been designed to reflect the natural beauty of the Doon Valley while incorporating Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage. The station features traditional Aipan art alongside modern passenger facilities aimed at enhancing safety, accessibility and travel comfort.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for prioritising railway development in Uttarakhand. He described the station as a symbol of the successful integration of culture and modern infrastructure.
Dhami said Indian Railways is witnessing unprecedented transformation under the Prime Minister’s leadership, with major improvements in modernization, safety, speed and technology. He noted that indigenous trains such as Vande Bharat Express and Namo Bharat have become symbols of a self-reliant India.

Highlighting the state’s rail infrastructure development, the Chief Minister said that more than 75% of the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag Rail Project has already been completed. He added that the project is expected to significantly boost economic growth, tourism and connectivity in Uttarakhand’s hill districts.
He also pointed out that Uttarakhand has received two Vande Bharat trains, improving travel convenience for residents and tourists alike.
Emphasising the Centre’s commitment to the state, Dhami said Uttarakhand has been allocated a record railway budget of ₹4,769 crore this year, while railway projects worth over ₹39,491 crore are currently under implementation across the state.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station would become an important milestone in Uttarakhand’s development journey and contribute to the vision of a ‘Viksit Uttarakhand’ aligned with the national goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
