The private jet operations of 
Qatar Airways
have seen significant growth this year. The airline group confirmed that Qatar Executive revenues are up by over a quarter this year as the carrier responds to an increase in family and group bookings to leisure destinations like the Maldives and Seychelles.
A boost for business
Speaking to Bloomberg this month, Qatar Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Thierry Antinori, said revenue from the group’s Qatar Executive
private jet subsidiary rose 26% last year. The increase was due in large part to sustained high demand for flights on smaller aircraft, especially among families and groups such as sports teams and business delegations.

Qatar Executive has a fleet of 24 jets that serve its clients worldwide. Demand for private travel rose significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic but has leveled out as commercial air travel is largely back to pre-pandemic capacity. For Qatar Executive, though, the demand for charter travel has increased, with Antinori telling Bloomberg:
“Demand is strong. We are taking a higher share of the pie and therefore we can sell even more flights than what we have in supply.”

According to Antinori, a typical seat on the group’s fleet of light jets can cost three to four times as much as a premium seat on a commercial Qatar Airways trip.
Expanding in Europe
London is one of the airline’s most popular destinations, and the group is looking to expand its European operations even more in 2025. All of Qatar Executive’s jets operate on a ‘floating fleet’ concept, which means they are repositioned as needed around the world to meet customer demand and minimize the flying required to move from one customer to the next.

According to Antinori, Qatar Airways is considering acquiring an air operator certificate in Europe to provide a more seamless experience to its customers across the continent. This would enable it to offer flights that operate entirely within the European Union.

The move comes as Qatar Airwasy announced it has taken delivery of two additional Gulfstream G700 aircraft to expand its fleet further.
Growing the Gulfstream fleet
Qatar Airways confirmed today that it had received its fifth and sixth Gulfstream G700
jets, which were both delivered using a blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The carrier has four additional G700s scheduled for delivery throughout 2025 and early 2026.

The airline is the first to fly the G700 outside of the USA.
Qatar Executive was the launch customer of the Gulfstream G700, with the first aircraft model arriving in May 2024. The aircraft is also the fastest in the Gulfstream fleet, with a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935. Speaking on the news today, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said:

In addition to its new Gulfstream G700s, Qatar’s wholly-owned business jet fleet includes fifteen Gulfstream G650ERs, two Bombardier Global 5000s, and one Airbus A319CJ.
One of the most exciting additions to its fleet this year will be the implementation of satellite WiFi. Qatar Executive confirmed that the first five aircraft of its 15 G650ER fleet will have Starlink installed by May 2025. The company will then roll out the technology across its entire Gulfstream fleet over the next 18 months.
