Steel Safety Day Celebrated At Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited – Indian PSU

RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam steel plant observed Steel Safety Day at ED (W) Main Conference RINL, today.

The Guest of Honour, Shri J. Siva Sankar Reddy, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, Government of Andhra Pradesh, along with the head of works Shri A.K. Sobti, Chief General Manager (Works) I/C, inaugurated the Steel safety day celebrations.

Shri J. Siva Sankar Reddy, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, Government of Andhra Pradesh and Shri A K Sobti, Chief General Manager (Works) I/C administered safety pledge to all that “they renew their Pledge to dedicate themselves for the cause of safety and health of all employees and to adhere to all safety rules so as not to endanger human life and to protect the plant, equipment and machinery from all damages.”

Shri D. Rama Prasad, GM (Safety) I/ & Head of Safety Engineering Department, RINL, in his welcome address highlighted the importance of Steel Safety Day and sensitized the house on improving safety culture through a nice power point presentation.

Shri Pravin Kumar, CGM(Services) RINL in his speech thanked Sri J Siva Sankar Reddy, Jt Chief Inspector of Factories, Govt. of AP for his guidance.

Addressing the gathering, the guest of honour Shri J. Siva Sankar Reddy, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, Government of Andhra Pradesh, said that safety is everyone’s responsibility. He urged everyone to focus on safety every minute. Shri J. Siva Sankar Reddy appreciated the efforts of RINL management towards implementing utmost safety measures at RINL. The body and mind of every worker, officer should be alert at all times, Shri J. Siva Sankar Reddy said. Focus should be given to the minutest detail to ensure safe working conditions, Shri Siva Sankar Reddy added.

Shri A.K. Sobti, Chief General Manager(Works) I/c said that everyone should not only wear personal protective equipment inside the plant but should also ensure that others follow the same to ensure everyone’s safety.

Shri Sobti thanked Shri J. Siva Sankar Reddy, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, Government of Andhra Pradesh and his entire team of Safety officials for their constant guidance towards further improvement of safety at RINL.

Shri K.S.N. Rao, President, recognized union, AITUC urged everyone to focus on safety. Shri P.V.T.V.G. Varma, Member, Central Safety Committee, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, proposed the Vote of thanks.

As part of the Steel safety celebrations 2024, safety engineering department of RINL conducted various programs like:

Ø Safety Awareness programmes like Competitions on Safety Quiz, Safety Slogans and Safety Suggestion Mela were organized in the departments to contract workers towards Safety & Swachhata.

Ø Safety Flag was unfurled and the Safety Pledge was administered during March,2024. Many employees and contract workers in large numbers have participated.

Ø To bring awareness on safety, Swachhata Hygiene etc among the general public, “Nukkad Natak”- A Street Play was organized in Desipatrunipalem Village and Ukkunagaram Town ship.

Ø Safety Exhibitions were conducted at ED(Works ) Building, RINL

Ø A special awareness program on “Legal aspects of Safety” by Shri V Suresh, Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories and Shri P. Chinna Rao- Inspector of Factories, to all the Head of the departments, Departmental Safety Committee members, Central Safety Committee Members, Safety Coordinators.

Chief General Managers, Head of the Departments , Representatives of Steel Executive Association, various Trade Unions, SC/ST /OBC Associations, WIPS, JCSSI Members, Central Safety Committee Members, have actively participated in the event.
