Stellantis has not been doing well in the US since it was formed. Brands Chrysler, Fiat, and Dodge have been struggling for years in the States, and Ram and Jeep aren’t exactly blowing up. Overall, it’s been seven years of declining US sales for Stellantis. It has gone from 12.5% of the US auto market in 2020 to around 8% in 2024 and 2025.

Whether related or not, these brands have also been the absolute lamest when it comes to electrifying their fleet. (Well, excluding Fiat, but it barely sells any vehicles at all in the USA.) Is it a surprise that the automaker that has been most opposed to innovating and electrifying has also struggled to not lose sales year after year after year?

Well, they still may have no interest in developing and selling attractive EVs, but it seems the company leadership are eager to stop the overall sales slide … somehow. Stellantis senior executives reportedly told a room packed full of its auto dealers last month that they want to see 25% growth this year. Yes, 25% growth! (Of course, that came before Trump bombed Iran.)

“2026 is the year of execution, and we’re counting on our dealers to deliver. We’ve given them all the tools that they need. Excuses are over. There are no more excuses,” Stellantis US sales boss Jeff Kommor told The Detroit News following the meeting.

The automaker is launching a bunch of new models in 2026 to try to help with this. That does include the fully electric Jeep Recon and the extended-range Ram 1500 REV. However, most of the releases are gas-powered vehicles. Stellantis is also lowering prices (but not on EVs) and has upped its marketing efforts to record levels to support dealers on the local and regional level (most likely, though, not for EVs).
