Towards Probity for Prosperity—SECL Launches Three-Month Preventive Vigilance Campaign – Indian PSU

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) launched a three-month Preventive Vigilance Campaign at its Headquarters in Bilaspur today, in accordance with the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), New Delhi. The campaign will run from 17 August to 16 November 2026 with the theme “Probity for Prosperity.”

The campaign was inaugurated by SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan. Chief Vigilance Officer, Coal India Limited, Brajesh Kumar Tripathi, joined the programme as Guest of Honour through video conferencing.

The programme was attended by Director (Technical/Operations) N. Franklin Jayakumar, Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, Director (Technical/Planning & Projects) Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, along with Heads of Departments, officers and employees.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This was followed by the rendition of Vande Mataram, the Coal India Corporate Song and the National Anthem. CMD Harish Duhan thereafter administered the Integrity Pledge to the officers and employees.

Addressing the gathering, CMD Harish Duhan said that integrity, transparency and accountability are the foundations of organisational success. He stated that Preventive Vigilance is not limited to preventing irregularities, but is also a means of developing robust work processes that make decision-making more transparent, fair and accountable. He called upon all officers and employees to adhere to the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission and discharge their responsibilities with honesty, integrity and impartiality.

Addressing the programme through video conferencing, CIL Chief Vigilance Officer Brajesh Kumar Tripathi said that the objective of Preventive Vigilance is to strengthen processes and systems and identify potential risks well in advance. He emphasised that the message of “Probity for Prosperity” can be realised only when integrity becomes an integral part of everyday work practices and decision-making.

SECL Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain said that Preventive Vigilance is a cornerstone of good governance, transparency and an accountable work culture. He emphasised the importance of active participation by all officers and employees for achieving the objectives of the campaign.

During the three-month campaign, SECL Headquarters and all its operational areas will organise a range of activities including vigilance awareness programmes, capacity-building workshops, interactive sessions, quizzes, essay and debate competitions, among others. These initiatives will focus on strengthening a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability while promoting improvements in organisational processes and systems.

The programme was attended by senior officers, Heads of Departments and employees at SECL Headquarters, while General Managers and officers from various operational areas participated through video conferencing.
