Uttarakhand CM Dhami Reviews Preparations for International Kayaking and Canoeing Competition in Gadarpur – Indian PSU
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday reviewed preparations for the upcoming International Kayaking and Canoeing Competition in Gadarpur, located in Udham Singh Nagar district, and directed officials to ensure world-class arrangements for the successful conduct of the event.
During his visit to the competition venue, the Chief Minister inspected facilities being developed for athletes, security arrangements, technical infrastructure, transportation, accommodation, and other essential services. He emphasized that all preparations must be completed on time and in accordance with international standards.
Dhami instructed concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure that players, coaches, judges, and participants from India and abroad experience a seamless and comfortable stay during the competition.
As part of the inspection, the Chief Minister also participated in water sports activities and expressed confidence in Uttarakhand’s immense potential as a destination for adventure sports. He noted that the state’s unique geographical and natural conditions make it ideally suited for water sports, mountain sports, and other adventure-based activities.
“The state government is continuously expanding sports infrastructure and creating modern facilities to promote sporting excellence. Our objective is to establish Uttarakhand as a leading destination for national and international sporting events,” Dhami said.
Highlighting the importance of hosting global competitions, the Chief Minister stated that such events provide valuable exposure to local athletes and inspire young sportspersons to perform at international levels. He added that the government is committed to providing better training, infrastructure, and opportunities to athletes across the state.
Dhami further observed that international sporting events generate significant benefits beyond sports by boosting tourism, local businesses, employment, and economic activity. He said such competitions would strengthen Uttarakhand’s identity as an adventure tourism destination and attract visitors from across India and abroad.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is actively working to promote sports culture among youth through talent identification programs, training facilities, and incentives for outstanding athletes.
He also directed officials to ensure high-quality arrangements related to cleanliness, drinking water, medical services, security, and traffic management at the venue, so that the event showcases Uttarakhand’s hospitality and administrative efficiency on the global stage.
