Vietjet’s network out of Vietnam’s capital city, Hanoi, was boosted by announcing two new destinations: Hiroshima in Japan and Melbourne in Australia. The low-cost airline already operates an extensive network in Asia and Australia, and the new services are part of its larger expansion program for 2024.
Hanoi-Hiroshima
Vietjet will increase its presence in Japan and connect Hanoi with Hiroshima starting May 12. Located in southwestern Japan, Hiroshima is known for its UNESCO World Heritage Sites and several other landmarks and Vietjet’s new service hopes to increase tourism and trade opportunities between the two cities and two countries.

The airline will operate two return flights per week on Thursdays and Sundays. The flight from Hanoi will depart at 6:00 and arrive in Hiroshima at 12:30. The return flight from Hiroshima has a departure time of 13:30 and arrival at Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) at 16:20.
This service will add to the carrier’s already extensive network in Japan, with flights from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to destinations such as Tokyo, Osaka, Nayoga, and Fukuoka.
Hanoi-Melbourne
At the Australia Business Forum 2024, Vietjet announced another significant addition to its Australia network. The airline already serves the country with several flights from Ho Chi Minh City and will now also start flying from Hanoi to Melbourne.
Starting June 3, the carrier will offer two round-trip flights per week on Mondays and Fridays on the Hanoi-Melbourne route, with the journey lasting around 10 hours. Flights from Hanoi to Melbourne will depart on Mondays and Fridays at 17:10, and the return service from Melbourne will leave the next day at 7:30.

Vietjet expanded in Australia massively last year. Currently, it operates 58 weekly flights between Ho Chi Minh City and five Australian cities: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, using Airbus A330 and A321 aircraft.

It also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to purchase 20 Airbus A330-900 twin-aisle jets at the Singapore Airshow in February. These planes will support Vietjet’s network growth plans, including services to long-range destinations and medium-haul flights in Asia and Southeast Asia.
