“Launching an imprint positions publishing as a true content-creation hub, deepening engagement with beloved franchises while actively developing new IP and original stories for audiences to embrace for years to come,” Amy Jarashow, head of global publishing, told PW following the news that Paramount was launching the Paramount Global Publishing book imprint. Jarashow has overseen Paramount’s activities in the publishing category since 2023 after a career in licensed publishing with companies including Lego and Parragon. She will head the new venture, reporting to Josh Silverman, president of Global Products & Experiences, which oversees licensing, merchandising, and live events based on the company’s content.
The new imprint will develop new publishing content based on properties from Paramount’s various divisions, complementing the work of its licensed publishers, which include Random House Children’s Books, Bendon, Insight Editions, Studio Fun International, PI Kids, IDW, and more. The imprint will also allow the company to generate original intellectual properties with potential for extension into entertainment and experiences. The Paramount portfolio includes properties such as PAW Patrol, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Star Trek, and Yellowstone, among others.
The company’s licensed publishing will continue much as it has in the past, with Paramount capitalizing on its partners’ expertise and established retail relationships, Jarashow said. “Paramount Global Publishing will focus on projects that require greater internal control, including original fiction and new extensions of our iconic franchises. We are very much committed to our licensing strategy and plan on growing that business alongside the imprint. Many of our partners will likely benefit from a more robust asset library, as we amplify existing style guides and art pools that can be shared globally.”
Paramount will oversee the development, creation, and production of the print, digital, and audio books it publishes, with a sales and distribution partner to be named later. The imprint will launch in the U.S. and Canada before expanding globally.
The move is in line with that of some other major entertainment licensors. Mattel, for example, launched Mattel Press in 2023 (when Silverman headed consumer products there). That imprint, distributed by Simon & Schuster, releases in-house produced titles such as the first young adult novel tied to Barbie, American Girl’s first novel for adults, and a full publishing program tied to its Masters of the Universe IP. Its books live alongside those from its long-time licensed publishers, many of which it shares with Paramount.
PGP’s parent company, Paramount Skydance, was formed in 2025, includes such properties as Nickelodeon, CBS, Paramount Pictures, and MTV, and is in the process of acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery.
