UK Leisure airline TUI Airways is returning to Southampton Airport next summer with a weekly flight to Palma De Mallorca. This will be the first time in 15 years that the airline has served Southampton, with the announcement coming just over a year after the airport completed a runway extension.
Back in the game
TUI will begin its new service to Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), also known as Son Sant Joan Airport, next summer. The flights are scheduled to operate every Tuesday from May 27th to September 20th, 2025.

More than one million seats were available on flights to and from the facility last year.
The new weekly flight will offer a link between the South of England and Mallorca’s sandy beaches, cultural hot spots, and sunshine. TUI UK’s Director of Aviation Planning Karen Switzer expressed her excitement for the airline to return to Southampton after its long absence:
“We are extremely excited to return to Southampton Airport to reconnect travellers with the vibrant corner of the world that is Palma. We understand how important it is for customers to have access to flights from their local airports, and this latest addition brings the number of regional airports that TUI Airways fly from to 24.
“We look forward to welcoming customers on board from May next year and taking them away on their dream Mallorcan holiday.”

The flights are timed to align with Marella Cruises’ upcoming summer program, which will see sailings including Mediterranean itineraries aboard the Marella Discovery with stops in Cagliari, Sardinia, Naples (for Pompeii and Capri), Italy, Piombino (for Siena and Pisa), Italy, Villefranche (for Monaco and Nice), France, and Palamos, Spain before returning to Palma.
Serving Southampton next summer
The airline has yet to confirm which aircraft it will use to serve the route, but it could potentially be a good fit for the carrier’s fleet of Boeing 737 narrowbodies. Less likely alternatives include its Embraer E-Jets or Boeing widebodies, which are primarily used for long-haul travel.

“The runway extension at Southampton Airport has paved the way for exciting new travel opportunities for the Central South region. With TUI’s return after 15 years, holidaymakers now have the chance to experience the full TUI journey from start to finish.
“This is an incredible milestone for our airport and signals a future filled with growth, as we continue to expand and enhance travel options for our passengers to every corner of Europe.”

The route was previously served by British Airways, which announced it is ending services from Southhampton for the 2025 summer season. Next summer, easyJet will also serve the airport pair using an Airbus A319, which seats 156 passengers. The low-cost carrier began its seventh route from Southampton this week, with a twice-weekly service to Amsterdam.
