For the third year in a row, low-cost long-haul airline LEVEL
will lease ACMI capacity to operate its summer service to New York JFK. In 2023 and 2024, the carrier opted for Wamos Air planes to service its Barcelona-El Prat Airport
(BCN) to New York JFK Airport
(JFK) route. This year, the airline is switching to Iberojet and its modern Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

The summer plan
The summer period is typically considered the season during which airlines make the most money, compensating for lower loads and demand during the winter months. LEVEL boosts capacity on all of its US routes during the summer. Each destination it serves in the US receives increased frequencies of LEVEL flights from Barcelona between June and September. Destinations that will get 7 weekly flights this summer include:

Miami International Airport
(MIA) and San Francisco International Airport
(SFO) will both see four weekly flights. In a statement to Simple Flying, LEVEL said:
“At LEVEL, we are continuously evaluating the market needs to identify the most effective way to address them. The ACMI agreement with Iberojet enables us to adapt our operational plan this summer, ensuring a balance between market demands and our resources.”
By using an Iberojet Airbus A330-900neo, LEVEL will be able to free up additional capacity to maintain its increased frequencies across all destinations, not just in the US. The aircraft will operate for LEVEL between June 1 and September 30, outside of which the Iberia subsidiary will continue to use its own planes.
Iberojet
owns a pair of A330-900s, registered with its Portuguese division. According to ch-aviation, one (CS-TKH) offers 388 seats while the other (CS-TCF) has 371. Both are configured in an all-economy layout, suited for IberoJet’s low-cost offering on flights between the Iberian peninsula and holiday destinations in Latin America for instance.

Previous ACMI contracts
This is not the first time that LEVEL has called on a third party to operate its flights to New York. In fact, this is the third year in a row that the carrier has done so, previously using Wamos Air and its Airbus A330ceo fleet. Per Cirium data, the airline last operated the route on its own planes in 2022, although just six times per week.
The year after (2023), the carrier used Wamos Air and offered daily services, as it did last year too. Iberojet had reportedly also attempted to win the LEVEL contract to fly between Barcelona and New York, but had failed both years. Finally, Iberojet came out as the preferred bid.
