South Korean cargo airline AIRZETA begins operations at Vienna Airport, offering six weekly rotations to Seoul-Incheon and strengthening Europe-Asia freight connectivity.

AIRZETA, a newly established South Korean cargo airline, has officially launched operations in Austria and selected Vienna Airport as its primary European hub. A comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding for Cargo Development and long-term handling agreements underpins this strategic collaboration, further establishing Vienna as a key gateway for international air freight. The partnership was formally inaugurated with a signing ceremony at the airport control tower, followed by an exclusive evening reception in Vienna’s city centre attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Austria, Ham Sang Wook, AIRZETA CEO Kwan Sik Kim, and Vienna Airport joint CEO and COO Julian Jäger.

AIRZETA’s decision to choose Vienna as its European hub sends a strong signal about the quality and potential of our airport. This strengthens the economic, logistical, and strategic connection between Europe and Korea.”
Kwan Sik Kim added, “Vienna is the ideal launchpad for AIRZETA’s European operations. Excellent infrastructure, outstanding handling quality, and the airport’s strategic geographic position made our decision clear. We are excited to begin our journey here and grow alongside our partners.”
Ham Sang Wook said, “This new partnership is an important step forward in strengthening air cargo cooperation between Korea and Austria, which will go a long way in expanding trade between our two countries even further.”
To mark the start of the collaboration, Vienna Airport and AIRZETA hosted a reception on 13 November 2025 at the Vestibül inside the Vienna Burgtheater. Guests from business, aviation, and public institutions attended speeches by Jäger, Kim, and the South Korean Ambassador, alongside a ceremonial gift exchange and joint cake-cutting.
AIRZETA will operate regular cargo flights between Vienna and Seoul-Incheon with six weekly rotations, ensuring reliable high-capacity connections between East Asia and Central Europe. Shipments will include auto parts, battery materials, industrial components, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce consignments. Boeing 747 freighters provide efficient processing and significant payload capability, benefiting trade, export industries, and logistics networks in both regions.
The airline is formed from the merger of Asiana Cargo and Korean Air and a spin-off from Air Incheon. While Asiana Cargo has served Vienna for many years, AIRZETA brings Air Incheon’s infrastructure and network capabilities to the airport for the first time. The launch represents a strategic upgrade for Vienna Airport, increasing cargo volume, enhancing intercontinental connectivity, and introducing a higher level of operational collaboration.
