Hari Mohan Gupta to Retire on June 30
The position of Chairman and Managing Director at IRCON will fall vacant from July 1, 2026, following the retirement of Hari Mohan Gupta. During his tenure, IRCON strengthened its position as one of India’s leading engineering and construction PSUs, executing railway, highway, metro, and infrastructure projects in India and abroad.
In a regulatory filing, IRCON informed stock exchanges that it is initiating all necessary procedures for the appointment of Saleem Ahmad as CMD in compliance with the Companies Act, 2013, SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, and other applicable statutory provisions.
Railway Board Issues Appointment Order
The decision was communicated through an official order issued by the Railway Board under the Ministry of Railways on June 23, 2026.
Saleem Ahmad currently heads RVNL, one of the key infrastructure development companies under the Ministry of Railways. His additional charge at IRCON is expected to ensure leadership continuity and operational stability while the process for appointing a regular CMD is undertaken.
The move underscores the government’s emphasis on maintaining seamless leadership transitions across major railway sector public enterprises.
