Alliance Air Expands Regional Connectivity with New Routes Linking Kolkata to Jabalpur, Rewa, Patna and Bhopal – Indian PSU

In a significant boost to regional air connectivity under the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, Alliance Air has announced the launch of new direct and connecting flight services linking Kolkata with key destinations in Central and Eastern India. The expansion includes the Kolkata–Jabalpur, Kolkata–Rewa–Bhopal, and Kolkata–Patna–Bhopal routes.

The new services are expected to strengthen connectivity between West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar while enhancing access for business travellers, tourists, government officials and public sector professionals.

Operated using Alliance Air’s 72-seater ATR aircraft, the new routes will significantly reduce travel time compared to lengthy rail journeys and multi-stop air connections. The enhanced network is designed to improve mobility between important commercial, cultural and administrative centres across the region.

The newly introduced routes include:

• Kolkata–Jabalpur: A direct air link connecting Eastern India with one of Madhya Pradesh’s प्रमुख tourism and wildlife gateways.
• Kolkata–Rewa–Bhopal: Providing improved connectivity to the Vindhya region while offering direct access to the state capital of Madhya Pradesh.
• Kolkata–Patna–Bhopal: Strengthening the East-Central India corridor by linking three major state capitals through a convenient air service.

Boost to Tourism and Regional Economy

The new connectivity is expected to benefit multiple sectors, including tourism, trade, education, mining, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and public sector enterprises.

Jabalpur: Gateway to Central India’s Wildlife

Jabalpur serves as the gateway to several of India’s most renowned natural attractions, including the Marble Rocks at Bhedaghat, the Dhuandhar Falls and the Narmada River valley. It also provides convenient access to major tiger reserves such as Kanha, Bandhavgarh and Pench National Parks.

Rewa: Opening the Vindhya Region

The Rewa sector connects travellers to the historic Vindhya region, home to the world’s first White Tiger Safari at Mukundpur, scenic waterfalls including Keoti and Bahuti, and several historic forts. The new service is expected to improve connectivity for both tourism and regional commerce.

Patna: Heritage and Pilgrimage Hub

Patna offers access to some of India’s most important heritage and spiritual destinations, including Nalanda, Rajgir, Vaishali, Bodh Gaya and Takht Sri Patna Sahib. The new air link is also expected to facilitate faster business travel between Eastern and Central India.

Bhopal: Administrative and Heritage Centre

As the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal is an important destination for government officials, corporate executives and business travellers. It also serves as the gateway to UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Sanchi Stupa and the Bhimbetka Rock Shelters.

Opportunities for Travel Trade

The expanded network is expected to create new opportunities for travel agents, tour operators, MICE organisers and hospitality stakeholders by enabling multi-state tourism circuits covering heritage, wildlife, spiritual and eco-tourism destinations across Eastern and Central India.

According to Alliance Air, the enhanced connectivity will also support economic growth by improving access between emerging Tier-II cities and major commercial centres, while strengthening regional integration under the UDAN initiative.
