Peachtree Pointe in Atlanta.
ATLANTA: Synchronicity Theatre has announced it will transition away from its current venue at Peachtree Pointe, a mixed-use office space in Midtown Atlanta. Synchronicity’s landlord has chosen not to renew the lease, prompting the organization to embark on a search for a new permanent home that reflects its artistic vision and its deep roots in the Atlanta community.
According to producing artistic director Rachel May, Synchronicity’s programming, partnerships, and community impact have never been stronger, and the theatre’s leadership is actively engaged in a search for a new theatrical home. “We have loved our ‘first home’ in Midtown Atlanta for 12 years,” May said in a statement. “We are excited to ground our next decade in a new home, and are looking forward to a home rooted in community and with access points for all of our programs and patrons. Synchronicity audiences deserve a home that grows with us, and we are committed to finding exactly that.”
While Synchronicity’s board and staff leadership engage with community partners, civic leaders, and fellow arts organizations to identify and develop a new space, supporters, subscribers, and audiences can expect all current and upcoming programming, including the spring Stripped Bare arts incubator performances, to continue. The world premiere of Catherine Yu’s In Spite of My Ambivalence will proceed as planned in June, and will be the last Synchronicity show in its current space. All off-site education and outreach will continue unaffected.
The company urged people who have real estate leads, or who would like to get involved in its Artful Future capital campaign, to contact May at rachel@synchrotheatre.com or managing director Celise Kalke at celise@synchrotheatre.com.
