Apple is reportedly in negotiations to integrate Google’s Gemini AI engine into its iPhone lineup. This collaboration, as per Bloomberg sources, aims to enhance the iPhone’s AI features, particularly in generative AI applications such as image creation and advanced writing tasks.

While Apple is developing its own AI models for the forthcoming iOS 18, the tech giant is exploring partnerships to bolster its generative AI offerings. These capabilities could transform user interactions with their devices, enabling them to produce content with simple commands.

The specifics of the partnership, including the terms and integration methods, remain under discussion. Insiders suggest that any formal announcement is likely to coincide with Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Despite not commenting officially, Apple’s intent is clear as CEO Tim Cook hinted at significant investments in AI, with more details expected later this year. The potential Google collaboration comes amidst existing agreements, like Google’s default search engine status on Safari, which face intense regulatory examination.

Apple’s pursuit of AI innovation mirrors the industry’s trend, following Google and Microsoft’s lead in embedding AI into their products. Notably, Google has expanded its AI reach, partnering with Samsung for the Galaxy S24 series.
