BEML Secures ₹590 Crore MoD Order for Trawl Assemblies, Boosting Indigenous Defence Capability – Indian PSU

In a major push to India’s defence preparedness and self-reliance goals, BEML Limited has secured a ₹590 crore contract from the Ministry of Defence for the supply of advanced trawl assemblies for deployment on the Indian Army’s T-72 and T-90 main battle tanks.
The agreement was formally signed and exchanged between senior officials of the Ministry of Defence and BEML in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in strengthening India’s combat engineering capabilities.

The trawl assemblies—critical systems designed to detect and clear landmines—have been indigenously developed in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), particularly its R&D Engineers unit based in Pune. This collaboration highlights the growing synergy between India’s defence manufacturing and research ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy said the order reflects sustained confidence in the company’s technological strength and execution capabilities. He emphasized that the partnership with DRDO reinforces India’s commitment to innovation-led defence manufacturing and aligns with national initiatives such as Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
“These advanced mine trawl systems will significantly enhance battlefield mobility and survivability for mechanised forces by enabling safe passage through mine-infested areas,” Roy noted.
