CONCOR explores strategic shipping partnerships with Transworld Group to boost global & coastal connectivity
NEW DELHI : In a significant move to strengthen India’s logistics and maritime ecosystem, Shri Sanjay Swarup, Chairman & Managing Director of Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), along with Director (P&S) Shri Ajit Kumar Panda and other senior officials, held a high-level meeting with Shri Mahesh Sivaswamy, Founder & Chairman of Transworld Group, Singapore, and his delegation.
The discussions centered on forging strategic alliances in overseas and coastal shipping, with a focus on enhancing multimodal logistics integration and expanding India’s footprint in global trade corridors. Both sides explored opportunities to leverage CONCOR’s extensive inland logistics network alongside Transworld Group’s strong international shipping presence to create seamless, end-to-end supply chain solutions.
Key areas of deliberation included strengthening coastal shipping services to promote modal shift from road to sea, improving cost efficiency and sustainability, and enhancing last-mile connectivity for EXIM and domestic cargo. The meeting also highlighted the potential for developing dedicated coastal shipping corridors, optimized vessel deployment, and integrated logistics solutions to support growing trade volumes.
Emphasis was laid on digitalization, operational efficiency, and the adoption of innovative logistics practices to ensure faster turnaround times and improved service reliability. The collaboration is expected to play a pivotal role in reducing logistics costs, decongesting ports, and supporting the Government of India’s vision of promoting coastal shipping as a sustainable and efficient mode of transport.
Both organizations expressed optimism about building a long-term partnership that aligns with India’s maritime growth ambitions and strengthens its position as a key player in global shipping and logistics.
