Scottish travelers rejoice: For a limited time, Edinburgh’s newest airline is offering flights to wonderful Turkey for just one pound.

Pegasus Airlines, a Turkish carrier, is gearing up to launch the new route on June 27th. Flights operating twice weekly between Istanbul and Edinburgh will take off on Thursdays and Sundays. The outbound flights will leave Edinburgh at 15:30 local time and return to Istanbul at 11:40.

Grab a £1 fare while they last

To celebrate the launch of the route, and for a very limited period, passengers can find a cracking deal on these Pegasus flights. Some 2,500 seats have been placed on sale today with fares of just £1 (plus taxes).

The trip must be booked from May 10 to May 16 for trips to be enjoyed between the launch date (June 27) and the end of the IATA winter season (March 29, 2025). If you’ve had your eye on Turkey for a while, now could be a great time to book.

If you miss out on the £1 fares, the airline says it is also offering one-way fares from £49.99, which is still a very good deal.

Looking at the booking platform, most offer fares seem to fall in the autumn and winter. Check dates in November for some great offers, or compare the prices with other airlines here to make sure you’re getting a good deal.

What to expect on Pegasus

Pegasus is an Airbus-heavy airline, with 94 of the A320 family in its fleet. These include the newest Airbus narrowbodies, the A320neo and A321neo. A handful of older A320ceo aircraft are still operating, but they are due to be phased out in favor of the new generation types.

Complementing these is a small fleet of 10 Boeing 737-800s. According to ch-aviation, the airline has one of the youngest fleets in Europe, with an average fleet age across all 105 aircraft of just 6.4 years.

Still Growing: The Pegasus Airlines Fleet In 2024

The carrier recently celebrated several special fleet milestones.

Although Pegasus is a low-cost carrier, the ticket price includes more than some European low-costs. All fare tiers except ‘Light’ (Saver, Saver Plus, and Comfort Flex) include a cabin bag and 20kg of checked baggage. For the cheapest fare tier (Light), passengers are only allowed an under-seat bag.

Food and drink are buy-on-board, but you can save up to 20% by booking your meals before the trip. Meal selections can be made during booking or up to 24 hours before your flight using the Pegasus app. Some fare tiers include a sandwich, but no tier gets a hot meal without extra payment.

The flight from Edinburgh to Istanbul is around four and a half hours, so you’ll be pleased to know there is some entertainment to be had during the trip. Pegasus’s ‘Fly&Watch’ system lets you stream content to your mobile phone, tablet, or laptop, and the selection includes new releases, popular TV shows, music, and more.

Some fare tiers include Fly&Watch as part of the package, but if you’re on a tier that doesn’t include it, you’ll be glad to know it’s under £4 for access for your entire flight.
