The Government has approved the appointment of Tarun Kumar Chopra, Deputy General Manager (DGM) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), as Director (Finance) of WAPCOS Limited for a period of five years.
According to an office order issued by the Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation on October 23, 2026, the appointment follows the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), conveyed through the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
His tenure will begin from the date he assumes charge and will continue for five years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The government has also extended the additional charge of Director (Finance), WAPCOS, to Shilpa Sachin Shinde, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the company, for three months with effect from September 29, 2026, or until the regular incumbent assumes charge, whichever is earlier.
The order was signed by Sameer Kumar Munda, Under Secretary to the Government of India, on behalf of the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The appointment fills a key financial leadership position at WAPCOS, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Jal Shakti engaged in water resources, power and infrastructure consultancy.
