JetBlue has unveiled a new livery for its Airbus A220 aircraft, nicknaming it ‘Hops,’ featuring a unique violet accent color on the winglets and other parts of the fuselage.
Hopping on an A220
According to a JetBlue spokesperson, the Airbus A220-300, which will be registered as N3241J, will feature the airline’s newest livery, called ‘Hops.’
The representative said the aircraft, nicknamed ‘Taming Of The Blue,’ will begin flying commercially at the end of November.
One of the unique features of JetBlue’s A220-300 livery is violet accents on the winglets and the aft fuselage of the narrowbody jet, with the new livery putting a fresh spin on a JetBlue classic.
“This pattern is multidimensional, playful, and full of motion—evoking the path of our planes hopping from one BlueCity to another. This is the first aircraft to feature our violet accent color.”
For JetBlue, the A220-300 will become one of the most important aircraft in its fleet. While the airline has deferred 44 A321neo aircraft that were scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2029 to 2030 and beyond as part of its JetForward plan, it has kept its original A220-300 delivery schedule.
As a result, during the latter half of 2024, as well as the next four years, JetBlue was scheduled to take delivery of 64 A220-300 aircraft, with another four coming thereafter.

Analysis: Which US-Based Airlines Have Deferred Airbus Deliveries & Why?
At least three airlines in the US have deferred Airbus A320neo and A321neo family aircraft.
First flights
Airbus last delivered an A220-300 to JetBlue on September 26, when the manufacturer handed over N3232J, manufacturer serial number (MSN) 55301 at Montréal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX), one of the two final assembly lines (FAL) of the A220 family.
The other is located in Mobile, Alabama, US, with the site’s last delivery occurring on November 14, when Breeze Airways added an A220-300, registered as N240BZ, to its fleet.

Nevertheless, JetBlue’s A220-300, with the airline’s latest livery, had already conducted its first flight. According to Aviation Flights Group, manufacturer serial number (MSN) 55315, temporarily registered as C-FOWF, departed on its first test flight on November 20.
Flightradar24 data showed that the single-aisle jet flew for more than two hours and 45 minutes, leaving and returning to Montréal-Mirabel International.

New JetBlue liveries
On June 14, 2023, JetBlue introduced its first new livery, refreshing the design of its ‘Mint Leaves’ pattern that is adorned on aircraft with Mint, its business class equivalent.
The airline followed up the ‘Mint Leaves’ (first aircraft rolled out in June 2023) refresh with new takes on ‘Spotlight’ (October 2023), ‘Balloons’ (November 2023), and, lastly, ‘Hops’ (to debut in November).
In June 2023, Jayne O’Brien, the head of marketing and loyalty of JetBlue, said that liveries have always been a part of the carrier’s identity.
“When you spot a JetBlue aircraft—whether on the ground or in the air—we want customers to recognize us as a travel brand that moves them differently than everyone else.”
According to the JetBlue representative, by the end of 2024, the airline will have nine aircraft with the ‘Mint Leaves’ livery, while 19, nine, and four will be painted with the ‘Spotlight,’ ‘Balloons,’ and ‘Hops’ paint schemes, respectively.
