Canadian carrier Flair Airlines
announced it has significantly increased frequencies between airports across British Colombia and Alberta. Recently named the most punctual airline in the nation, Flair will begin the additional flights next April.
Bringing British Colombia to Alberta
Four airports stand out for having the largest growth compared to the airline’s schedule this year. Beginning in April 2025, frequencies between Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Calgary International Airport
(YYC), Vancouver International Airport
(YVR), and Abbotsford International Airport (YXX) will increase significantly.
Next summer, the airline will operate up to 340 additional monthly flights across these routes compared to 2024, representing a year-over-year increase of 50% or more for each route. Eric Tanner, VP of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Flair Airlines, noted how excited the carrier is to announce the enhanced frequencies:
“The interconnectivity between Alberta and British Columbia is only getting stronger and more economically essential.
“Flair is empowering passengers to do day trips between Alberta and British Columbia with affordable, convenient flight options in the morning and evening.”

The most significant increase goes to the Vancouver to Calgary route, which will have up to five flights daily next spring.

Airlines must plan network changes a long time in advance, and Flair has just released its summer 2025 schedule.
Boosting connectivity for Canadians
The additional frequencies were added to enhance convenience and connectivity for passengers and followed careful negotiations with each airport. For Adrian Warchola, Director of Air Service Development at Edmonton International Airport
(YEG), the additional flights reflect the growth and provide further opportunities for area residents and visitors:
“Flair’s expansion at YEG is a testament to the growing demand for travel options in our region.
“This increase in non-stop service helps to strengthen connections for our community, drive economic prosperity and provide more opportunities to explore.”

Next spring, Canada’s fifth-busiest airport will see 25 peak weekly frequencies to Abbotsford (up 56% from last year) and 24 weekly flights to Vancouver (up 50%) with Flair. Overall, the airport is on track to reach 7.8 million passengers by the end of 2024, reaching 96% of pre-pandemic volumes.
Flair uses the Abbotsford airport to serve the local area as well as passengers from the greater Vancouver area. The airline has a strong presence at the airport and will increase its frequencies on the links to Edmonton (above) and Calgary (up to three daily flights). Ross Siemens, the Mayor of Abbotsford, expressed enthusiasm about the increasing connectivity provided by Flair’s expanded routes to the local community:
“Flair Airlines shares our commitment to making air travel more affordable and accessible for all Canadians.
“We are very pleased to see Flair increasing its capacity and offering even more flights to and from Abbotsford International Airport this summer to support our rapidly growing Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver region and strengthen connections for residents and visitors alike. YXX is looking forward to sending Flair travellers off on their journeys, and warmly welcoming visitors to our region.”

The airport offers various scheduled domestic and seasonal international passenger services.
The airline canceled the fewest flights nationwide last month, with 99.1% of flights going through as intended. It ended above Porter Airlines at 98.7%, Air Canada at 98.4%, and WestJet at 97.2% to nab the title. In terms of on-time performance, the airline recorded 73.4% of flights arriving as scheduled in November, trailing flag carrier Air Canada’s 81.4% but edging out Porter and WestJet.
The carrier is so confident of its timeliness and reliability that it launched an On-Time Guarantee, which compensates passengers if a flight is delayed more than 60 minutes or canceled within 72 hours of departure.
