Saudi Arabia-based low-cost carrier flynas has taken delivery of two Airbus A320neo aircraft during the month of March while also growing its international and domestic capacity to more than 1.2 million seats for the month of Ramadan.
Chinese-built Airbus A320neo aircraft
The two Airbus A320neo, registered as HZ-NS79 and HZ-NS82, were delivered on February 29 and March 14, 2024, respectively, ch-aviation data showed. The site’s data also indicated that both A320neo aircraft were built in Tianjin, China, one of Airbus’ global final assembly line (FAL) sites.

Both aircraft were delivered to Riyadh King Khalid International Airport (RUH), with flynas saying that it should receive six Airbus A320neo aircraft in 2024. Following the delivery of the pair of newly built A320neos, the airline now has 49 aircraft of the type, in addition to seven Airbus A320ceo and four A330-300 aircraft.

Adding capacity for Ramadan
flynas has also announced that for the month of Ramadan, which will be observed between March 10 and April 9, it has added 1.2 million seats on international and domestic flights, or 25% more than in 2023. As a result of the additional capacity, the low-cost carrier has been able to provide diverse travel options and an outstanding travel experience for the period.
“This growth in the new aircraft and increasing the seat capacity comes within its strategic plan launched under the title (We Connect the World to the Kingdom), in parallel with the objectives of the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques and the National Civil Aviation Strategy to enable national air carriers to contribute to connecting KSA with 250 International destinations and to accommodate 330 million passengers and to host 100 million tourists yearly by 2030.”

Meanwhile, data from the aviation analytics company Cirium showed that the airline added 278 weekly one-way flights in March 2024 compared to the same month a year prior, resulting in 58,290 additional seats and 140.3 million more Available Seat Kilometers (ASK). In April 2024, the airline has scheduled 494 more one-way weekly flights, resulting in 88,520 additional seats and 133.8 million extra ASKs than in April 2023.

In March, the most flights will be added to Jeddah King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED), Medina Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (MED), and Tabuk Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Airport (TUU), three Saudi Arabian airports, with 185, 48, and 18 more weekly one-way flights, respectively. In April, flynas will grow its capacity the most to JED, RUH, and DMM, with 130, 97, and 36 additional weekly one-way flights, respectively.
According to ch-aviation, flynas took delivery of 21 aircraft in 2023, split between 19 Airbus A320neo and two Airbus A330-300, which previously belonged to South African Airways and Turkish Airlines. So far, in 2024, Airbus has only delivered two A320neo aircraft to the Saudi Arabian carrier.
