India’s energy Maharatna, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), has appointed Prashant Singh as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ONGC Green Limited, its wholly owned subsidiary established to drive the company’s renewable energy and low-carbon business strategy.

The appointment marks a significant step in ONGC’s clean energy transition as the PSU accelerates its diversification beyond conventional hydrocarbons.

Prashant Singh will spearhead ONGC Green’s ambitious plan to expand its renewable energy portfolio from the current approximately 2.5 GW to 10 GW by 2030. He will also play a key role in helping ONGC achieve its target of Net Zero operational emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 2038, a major milestone in the company’s sustainability roadmap.

Prior to his new assignment, Singh served as Head – New Energy (Hydrogen and CCUS) at ONGC, where he played a pivotal role in formulating the company’s strategy for green hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), and other emerging clean energy technologies.

A seasoned energy professional with over three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, Singh has also served on the boards of Pawan Hans Limited and Ayana Renewable Power Private Limited, bringing extensive expertise in operations, corporate governance and strategic leadership.

Industry observers view the appointment as a crucial move in strengthening ONGC Green’s leadership at a time when the company is rapidly scaling investments in renewable energy, green hydrogen and other low-carbon businesses.

The leadership transition reinforces ONGC’s long-term vision of evolving into a diversified and sustainable integrated energy company while contributing to India’s energy security and clean energy goals.
