United Airlines continues announcing new destinations, with the airline planning to launch flights to three cities on three different continents, including a fifth-freedom flight to Cebu, the Philippines. In addition to the new destinations, it will also increase frequencies to some of its most popular destinations.
First direct US flights to Marrakesh
Starting October 24, 2024, United Airlines will fly its Boeing 767-300ER aircraft between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK), the first-ever direction connection between the United States and RAK.
The airline will operate three weekly flights on the route, with the 767-300ER being equipped with 46 United Polaris (business class) and 22 United Premium Plus (premium economy) seats to provide travelers with a more premium travel experience while flying to RAK.

Its first non-stop flights to Medellin
The airline will also offer its first-ever direct flights to Medellin José María Córdova International Airport (MDE), Colombia, offering itineraries from one of its hubs at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Texas, the US.
Similarly to flights to RAK, United Airlines will begin flights to MDE on October 27. However, the flights will be operated by a Boeing 737, without the airline detailing which type or generation of 737s it will be. Nevertheless, the carrier already operates flights from EWR and IAH to Bogota El Dorado International Airport (BOG).

Fifth-freedom flights to Cebu
Lastly, United Airlines said that from July 31, the carrier will operate a fifth-freedom flight between Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) and Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). Flying the route with a Boeing 737-800, the frequencies between NRT and CEB will allow passengers to hop onto the carrier’s flights to the mainland US.

United Airlines highlighted that it was still the only airline offering direct transpacific flights to the Philippines, with services between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) operating daily. Furthermore, it serves MNL from Guam Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM) and Palau International Airport (ROR).

In addition to the new flights to RAK, MDE, and CEB, the airline is also increasing frequencies to Porto Airport (OPO), Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), and Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN). Lastly, after the latest agreement between China and the US, four weekly flights will be added between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG). These flights still have to be approved.
