has continued to adjust its network from/to the United States, with adjustments including aircraft switches and reductions in the number of weekly itineraries flown across the Atlantic Ocean.
British Airways US summer network
During the upcoming International Air Transport Association (IATA) summer season, British Airways will operate the same number of weekly flights – 329 – from the United Kingdom (UK) to the US (June was used as the sample month).
The IATA summer season 2025 will start on March 30 and end on October 25. AeroRoutes was the first to flag the changes.
However, the British carrier will operate 2.5% fewer weekly seats year-on-year (YoY), resulting in 3.1% fewer available seat kilometers (ASK) in June YoY. British Airways operates transatlantic flights only from London, namely either Heathrow Airport
(LHR) or Gatwick Airport (LGW).
, another International Airlines Group ( IAG
) carrier, also flies across the Atlantic Ocean from Manchester Airport (MAN) in the UK.
While the airline will be adding seven and six additional weekly frequencies to flights to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), respectively, it has removed all daily flights from Heathrow to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
(DFW).
The cuts were confirmed by the airline earlier, with British Airways citing supply issues from Rolls-Royce, namely the Trent 1000 engine powering its Boeing 787 aircraft.

Further reductions are coming on flights from Gatwick
to Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and Orlando International Airport (MCO), with two fewer weekly flights each.
In June, the airline will also operate one fewer weekly flight from Gatwick to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport
(JFK) and Tampa International Airport (TPA), as well as from Heathrow to San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

Aircraft changes
In June, the airline will also introduce aircraft changes on several routes. For example, while in June 2024, British Airways used the Airbus A380
and Boeing 777-200ER (four-class configuration with eight first class, 49 business, 40 premium economy, and 138 economy class seats) to operate three daily flights from Heathrow to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), this year, it will utilize the A380 and 777-200ER
to operate two daily flights, while the third will be flown by either a Boeing 787-8 or 787-9
.

To sidetrack for a bit, British Airways’ A380 schedule in June includes six destinations (displayed in the map below): Boston, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport (JNB), Los Angeles International Airport
(LAX), Miami International Airport (MIA), San Francisco, and Washinton-Dulles. Daily flights are scheduled to the five US airports, with Johannesburg receiving two British Airways A380s per day during the month. In June 2024, the carrier’s A380s were also flying to Dallas/Fort Worth and Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), scheduling daily flights to the eight destinations.

Nevertheless, further changes include the British carrier removing 12 weekly flights from London-Heathrow to New York-JFK with the 777-300ER
and replacing it with the aforementioned 235-seat 777-200ER on the 12 weekly itineraries. As a result, British Airways will deploy 3.4% fewer weekly seats and 3.4% fewer weekly ASKs in June.

Potential winter adjustments
With airlines beginning to publish their preliminary IATA winter schedules for the season that will start on October 26 and run until March 2026, there is some visibility into British Airways’ winter plans to the US. November was used as the sample month.

In general, the airline should reduce its weekly flights to the US by only two. However, due to potential aircraft changes on certain routes, weekly seats and ASKs could be reduced by 3.2% and 2.9% YoY, respectively.
